BLOG TOUR (+review): Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen McManus

TWO CAN KEEP A SECRET

I’m very excited to be part of the blog tour (my first this year!!) for one of my most anticipated 2019 reads. Karen McManus’ debut novel, One of Us Is Lying, was such an enjoyable read – so I was really excited when I found out about this book.

It’s the second week of the tour  – you can click on the banner above to see the full schedule. Don’t forget to scroll all the way down for the giveaway!

Synopsis: Echo Ridge is small-town America. Ellery’s never been there, but she’s heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age seventeen. And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows. The town is picture-perfect, but it’s hiding secrets. And before school even begins for Ellery, someone’s declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing. Ellery knows all about secrets. Her mother has them; her grandmother does too. And the longer she’s in Echo Ridge, the clearer it becomes that everyone there is hiding something. The thing is, secrets are dangerous–and most people aren’t good at keeping them. Which is why in Echo Ridge, it’s safest to keep your secrets to yourself.

I was really really really happy I got to read Two Can Keep a Secret in advance of its release date – I love suspenseful reads, but I don’t appreciate the suspense as much when it comes to waiting for the books I already want to read. I WANT IT. NOW. RIGHT NOW.

One of Us Is Lying is one of my favorite reads in 2017. It quickly established Karen McManus as one of my auto-read authors. And I didn’t really have one in the suspense/thriller genre, so that was a first. But I’m not going to lie, I loved Two Can Keep a Secret even more.

I don’t how she does it, but Karen McManus managed to keep me guessing the whole time. I’m the type of person who usually ruin my own enjoyment of the unraveling part of movies and/or books by mostly, if not completely, guessing the plots. Although I enjoyed One of Us Is Lying, I did guess the ending about halfway through.

Two Can Keep a Secret hooked me and never let go. I was so suspicious about everyone. I ate all the inception that Karen fed me. I suspected every single person she wanted me to suspect, and I ignored every single person she wanted me to ignore. It was a crazy ride and I enjoyed every suspenseful moment of it. And guess what? The ending TOTALLY blindsided me. Up until the last bone-chilling sentence.
